King Baldwin IV, also known as the Leper King, was the 12th-century ruler of Jerusalem who ascended the throne as a teenager despite suffering from leprosy. He is respected for his resilience and fierce determination in defending his kingdom, most notably when he led an outmatched army to victory against the forces of Saladin at the Battle of Montgisard in 1177.
